What a real dumbass. Southwest Missouri really has something to be proud of with this poor excuse for a Congressman.

@kingx989 funny you should mention free markets in a video related to Congressman Long. Check out the Deleted Sarah Steelman Interview on YouTube, which she asks Congressman Long how do you keep a free market free. It involves nails and a sweater.

Congressman Long says the auctioneer industry accounts for $25 trillion in business each year in the US. The GDP is only $14 trillion and some change.

Auctioneers were instrumental in slavery. Thanks Col.

Dear Congressman – your interest is appreciated, but please – there are many more pressing issues to spend your time on in Congress than creating a sweet little ol bill to recognize auctioneers! Hows about working to create fair trade and tax status of auctions across our country and the internet

@MrRedPajamas I think you missed the point…. not every auctioneer is liquidating assets just to stay afloat. Auctions also provide great deals to people who don’t have alot to spend! Without auctions, there wouldn’t be eBay, overstock, craigslist, etc. etc. And there wouldn’t be people who could buy or sell stuff from home. So don’t be so quick to judge something you have had direct or indirect contact with.

Auctioneers are making great money today because the economy is in the toilet. People are auctioneering off their possessions just to pay their bills and to stay afloat in this troubled economy. Is this fat jerk off celebrating the fact that the U.S. economy is in the dumps?, is he?

@MrKrautman you mean like when Obama put the war spending on budget instead of hiding it like GW did? 9 of the 14 trillion debt came from republican presidents (and you can add to that the war spending since Obama came to office since it is GW’s war). or maybe you mean the balanced budget and projected surplus under Clinton? or maybe when John Kerry said he wanted the wars PAID for not borrowed for…remember “Ivoted for it before I voted against it”? for which he was crucified by the repubs

@cowboyx1970
Democrats took power in 2006 and have continued to increase the debt astronomically. We’ll never get anywhere if people don’t realize this country is being run into the ground bipartisanly

That was a real high point of some of the republican presentations made. We need more guys like him who can be real and have fun with such serious topics! Bring back humanity and humility to politics!

At least I don’t have to read the Wikipedia article on auctioneers, because I think he just gave the audio version.

Say Colonel, you still get 25% commission on your auction sales? Do a youtube search for “The deleted Sarah Steelman Billy Long Free Trade Interview” and learn how to keep a free market free.
