A salvage title means the car has been rebuilt after major damage. Maybe OK, maybe not. Depends on the skill of the rebuilder.

This means that at some point in the car’s history, an insurance company deemed it not worthy of repair for some reason. Usually this is because of some major defect, like the frame getting bent in an accident. Many people then buy these cars, do nominal cosmetic repairs to make them look good, and then try to sell them.

Not necessarily safe to buy. A salvage title means that the car was in an accident severe enough to be totaled by an insurance company, but someone has bought it and rebuilt it. That person had to get it inspected by the state to ensure that it is minimally safe, but I am sure you know that a car that has been rebuilt from a severe accident is more likely to have serious problems than one that has not.

A salvage title means that the vehicle has been wrecked before. by law the person that sells it to you has to let you know that it is a salvage title and get you to sign something. i signed the paper saying it was a salvage title but i didn’t comprehend what it was and when i wrecked the car the insurance didn’t pay off the whole balance because the value of the truck was less than i bought it for.

it means the car was in a wreck (usually serious) and someone decided it was worth it to fix rather then scrap. Usually, it a new/newer car. These cars have undelying problems that even mechanics can’t see upon inspection such as weak welding on the frame. Weak welding can cause a car to crumple even in a low impact accident. Lookout.

Salvaged doesn’t mean it was in an accident… it could’ve been stolen, flooded, fire, etc.
I would avoid them, unless I knew the real reason why it has a salvaged title. If the only reason was because it was stolen, then I may buy it…. if it were priced 50% of wholesale value.

NO NO NO, a salvage title means that the vehicle is for parts or rebuild ONLY.Others are talking about a rebuilt title,a REBUILT title is what you would get after the SALVAGE vehicle is rebuilt and inspected.

vehicles that have a salvaged have been totaled by an insurance company do to a collision. there is alot involved to getting the car registered. you have to have a brake and lamp inspection. the average cost for a lamp inspection is around $ 100.00 and for a brake inspection approx $ 80.00 charges can vary from shop to shop. then you need to make sure it is smog or emmision worthy depending on what state you live in. sometimes it can be a ok deal on a salvage and sometimes you can get screwed! be careful
